28th May 2016: Seminar 2: Research Ethics & FundingYBhg. Prof. Dato' Dr. Abu Bakar Abdul MajeedYBhg. Prof. Dato' Dr. Abu Bakar Abdul Majeed joined Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 2002 where he was appointed Dean of the newly established Faculty of Pharmacy. Between 2009 and 2014 he was Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research) at UiTM. He is a member of the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia (2016-2019). He also has been on the Board’s Ethics & Jurisprudence Subcommittee that oversees the Qualifying Exam to Practice Pharmacy in Malaysia since 2001. He is currently involved in research on Alzheimer’s disease, drug nanodelivery systems to the brain and bioethics.

29th May 2016: Plenary Talk 4: Halal Medication: Choice vs. RightProf. Dr. Zhari IsmailProfessor Zhari bin Ismail is currently a professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and has been lecturing on Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia since 1982. Professor Zhari received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Strathclyde University in 1982. He is appointed member of National Fatwa Council for Malaysian Islamic Affairs (2012-2015) and was an appointed member of Board of Studies: Halal Industry Programmes, International Islamic University, Malaysia (2011-2012). Prof. Dr. Zhari actively involved is herbal product research clusters and is a chairman for drafting Malaysian Standards for Halal Pharmaceutical Guidelines. Recipient of 2010 Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) Halal Scientist Award and 2012 Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) & STANDARD MALAYSIA Standard & Accreditation Award.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Noordin ran the Department of Pharmacy, University Malaya (UM) before moving to his current position as executive director at Malaysian Institute of Pharmaceuticals and Nutraceuticals, Penang, Malaysia. With extensive experience and passion in biopharmacy, quality assurance and pharmaceutical industries, he has led some of the most significant studies in the his field and over the years he received local and international awards and recognitions.

28th May 2016: Plenary Talk 2: From Foresr to Marine: Drug DiscoveryProf. Subagus Wahyuono Msc AptProf. Subagus Wahyuono of Pharmacy Faculty, Gadjah Mada University (GMU), Yogjakarta, Indonesia is the consultant at the Natural Products divicion of the KONIMEX Pharmaceutical Industries since 1998. As an expert, he involved actively in various research related to pharmacochemistry and medicinal plants and was invited to share his insight on traditional medicines practices in many conferences as keynote speaker.

28th May 2016: Seminar 3: Pharmacy Outreach: Go M.A.DDr. Patonah HasimunDr. Patonah is the Head of Professional Pharmacy in Sekolah Tinggi Farmasi Bandung. She graduated in Pharmacy and her research focusses on pharmacology and toxicology of natural products. Her research such as antihyperglycaemic and antihyperlipidaemic activities of turmeric and starfruit has been published in several journals. Dr. Patonah also has received several research grants from Indonesia Republic.

28th May 2016: Plenary Talk 3: Advancement in Cosmeceutical & Nutraceutical ResearchAssociate Professor Pimporn LeelapornpisidAssociate Professor Pimporn Leelapornpisid is a vice head of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Chiang Mai University, Thailand. With extensive research and training experience, she is an expert in research and development of pharmaceutical, cosmetics and spa products. Her research also discovered the nanotechnology and potential of aromatherapy in cosmetic science. Over the years, Assoc. Prof. Pimporn Leelapornpisid has published her findings, written books on cosmetics and aromatherapy and has been appointed as a reviewer by several scientific journals.

27th May 2016: Pre-conference: Rodent Handling WorkshopAssoc. Prof. Dr. Shamima Abdul RahmanAssoc. Prof. Dr. Shamima Abdul Rahman has experience in a wide range of pharmacology and histopathological analysis field as well as pharmacognosy during his academic studies to PhD in the area of pharmaceutical sciences. She is currently the Head of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and also the Head of Publication, Research and Industrial Networking in Faculty of Pharmacy, CUCMS.

27th May 2016: Pre-conference: Questionnaire Development & ValidationAssoc. Prof. Dr Wan Sazrina Wan ZaidAssoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Sazrina won an award of excellence for her thesis on Pharmacoethics from the Vice Chancellor of UiTM. She lectures on research methodology, entrepreneurship and pharmacoethics and has close to 20 years of experience in community pharmacy business.
